Asbestos Removal: the Proper Equipment

To remove asbestos from your own home you should be aware of the government's health standards or this process. There are many brochures available in areas with a history of asbestos. These are the proper tools for the safe removal of asbestos.

Plastic Sheeting

This should cover everything in the work area so that the asbestos cannot spread throughout your home.

Water Sources

Several small spray bottles and a garden hose should be purchased. These will be used to clean the affected materials. Some sources suggest mixing a mild dishwashing detergent with the water to provide the best results.

Siding Removal Tools

These can be basic housing tools, such as a nail puller, and can be recommended at a hardware store.

Respirators

A respirator should be used by anyone who is in danger of breathing in asbestos fibers, since the contamination is airborne. Respirators do not function properly if they are not well-fitting.

Proper Waste Containers

Standard waste containers vary by state and can be purchased through your state. Keep in mind that disposal companies will not accept waste in illegal containers, or those that are broken or punctured.
